The knee pads only work when your knees are bent for a knee slide, if your knees are extended for a bail onto your hands and knees, they flip down and expose the top of your knees to the concrete. I don't think I could size down to a small and I dont see a difference when I make them really tight. It seems silly to me to have to bail into "child's pose"
