Three practices and a game in and I think I found my favorite knee pad. Have tried so many other brands and overtime they just don’t hold up. So fingers crossed this is the start of something great for my knees!
I recently purchased the 187 Pro Derby Knee Pads, and they saved me from significant injury on the very first day I used them. My previous Pro Derby Knee Pads had served me well for about six years but had started to wear out, sliding down during crashes and causing painful injuries. These new pads replaced those old ones, and what a difference they made!
On my first outing with the new pads, I hit a large, triangular-shaped rock that acted like a wheel chock, stopping my skate abruptly at around 15 mph. I went down hard, landing on one knee pad and stabilizing my slide with my 187 wrist guard. I slid for about 10 feet but was able to get up and continue skating without any injury.
These pads are a major improvement over my worn-out ones. I can’t recommend them enough! Just make sure to get the right size—if they’re too big, they might slide off in an accident. Mine felt rather tight the first time I put them on, but when it mattered, I was grateful for the snug fit.
Love the fit. I wish they were a little easier to get on like my other 187’s with the sleeve and strap combination instead of all straps, But that is probably why they fit so well.
Best knee pads out there! I love the removable pieces to keep my pads lasting longer as I wash them. My knees feel super protected.
I have used 187 pads since 2010 and just ordered a new set of knee, elbow and wrists guards. Although I love my old set of pads, the newer quality upgrades are very visible. The fit and quality are far superior than other brands. Definitely recommend!
