No more sliding, halleluja - just buy them

I've been skating for just over five months now, and I gear up completely - helmet, elbow pads, wrist guards, even shin pads I bought from Dick's sporting goods. So of course I've been padding up my knees. I won't trash the brand I wore for months before these, but suffice it to say, my knee pads were the bane of my existence. They kept sliding down to my ankles. I found myself pulling them up after just about every trick attempt and it grew to be more and more a distraction, and even an impediment to me wearing them at times.

My fiance bought me the 187 Killer knee pads for Christmas, because she knew just how much I hated constantly pulling them up after each ollie. Every. Single. Time.

She does her research, so I know she checked reviews (it's what she does) and her Google fu really excelled with these.

At first, I thought they looked at bit bulky and was afraid they would limit the bending functionality of my knee. They look like 90 degree angles. But once I strapped them on, I had full use of my legs and I don't even notice them while skating. And the best part is: I DON'T HAVE TO PULL THEM UP! They stay right there, firmly attached to the knees. They have two sets of velcro - the first set wraps tightly around the thigh and upper calf. The second set are longer straps that wrap fully around the two aforementioned parts of the leg, but with a higher degree of adjustability. Once on, they stay on for the duration. I've taken a couple slams and they kept my knees safe and sound.

This whole experience has taught me that, at least for knees, not all pads are created equal. And these are top notch. The bees knees. While the other gear is more or less decent at lower price points, if you want to protect your knees and actually have fun skating without worrying about constant readjustments, just do yourself a favor. Don't skimp on the knee pads. These will serve you well. Take my word for it.

Way too large!

Ordered the L for our son, who is 16" and he is SWIMMING in these. They're out of the M, so no Indy pads for him unfortunately.

Should be cool

Howdy, bought the pads and broken my elbow skating two days before they showed up. Haven’t been able to use them yet, but they should be dandy when I do.
